Apple Island
Apple Island
Are you teaching estimation to your students? This tough math skill is also an essential one. It’s a great way to track your grocery bill as you add items to your cart and has many other practical applications. So, how do you make estimation fun? With the Apple Island game!
To play: Use your estimation skills to sort the equations. Put them in order from least to most. Drag and drop the equation with the smallest total on the left. Then, put the rest in order, with the equation with the biggest total on the far right. Once you have the correct order, your bicycle will fly up to Apple Island and knock down apples. The sign in the bottom right-hand corner shows your highest apple score.
Use the Apple Island estimation game however you’d like! It’s a perfect game for early finishers, a math station, or even a whole class activity. Simply ask students to quickly estimate the totals and put them in order on a piece of paper, then, confirm the correct answer with the game.
