Number Line Jump

Skip counting just got easier! Jump like a bunny and count as high as you can, because this number line jump never ends.

This virtual number line is just what you need for counting by multiples, practicing addition, and building number fluency. How does it work? Click and drag the black rectangle at the top to move the number line left or right. Tap the number one in the bottom right-hand corner to choose the interval or scale for the number line. Next, choose a color. Then, click, drag, and drop a semicircle onto the number line. To change the size of a semicircle, click and drag the black dots to the left or right. Use the trashcan button to clear the number line.

Use the virtual number line jump to teach skip counting. Ask students to skip count by 2s, 3s, 4s, or more by adjusting the size of the semicircle. Using a visual aid, such as a number line, helps students understand the concept of skip counting. Skip counting prepares students for multiplication and division, while also helping students recognize patterns.

You can also practice addition by showing each addend with a different colored semicircle. Working with number lines helps children build mental math skills and deepen their number sense.
