Dice
Throw these virtual dice to bring fun to your math lessons. Useful for lessons on probability, dividing students for group work, playing games, practicing math operations, or determining the coordinates for graphing, virtual dice are great. They never get lost and are ready for use by the whole class or individual students.
To use these 3D virtual dice, simply press “Throw” to toss the dice. Select how many dice you’d like to use by clicking the number “1” and choosing the number from the dropdown menu. Choose how many sides you’d like your dice to have from the dice dropdown menu.
Here are a few fun ways to use these virtual dice:
- Invite students to throw the dice and determine the probability that any number will show up. Then, change the number of sides on the dice and try the activity again.
- Throw several dice. Then, create equations using the numbers that appear.
- Throw dice to assign students to groups. To do this, assign numbers to corners or tables in the classroom. Then, throw dice for each child to assign them to a group and have them move to the corresponding table or corner. To add some challenge, throw 2 or more dice per child and have them determine which group they belong to (sum of dice between 0-25, between 25-50, etc.) Adjust as necessary.
- Use the dice to make a decision. For example, agree that if the sum of the dice is over 20, you’ll do activity A and if the sum is less than 20, you’ll do activity B. Adjust to practice whatever math operation you’re learning.
