Japanese Prints Doodle Art Activity
Japanese woodblock printing is said to have come to Japan from China as early as the 8th century, but became popularized during the Edo period in Japan (1603-1868). Woodblock printing was used to make books before the invention of the movable type and was distinct in Japan for the use of water-based (rather than oil-based) inks. The most famous artist to make Japanese prints is Hokusai.
With these black and white prints, children can color in and add their own artistic flourishes to the artists’ work. Toy Theater is trusted by teachers around the world to provide their elementary school students with safe online educational activities and games. Free to doodle, priceless for learning.
