Get ready to lasso some cows, cowboys and cowgirls! This western-themed online multiplication game is great for introducing this important topic in math.
To play, aim and click to lasso and catch the cows. But, watch out for the bulls! If you accidentally hit a bull, the level will start over. So, giddy up and catch the cows, which will be displayed in an array. Then, count up the cows or multiply to find the correct answer. Each level will grow more challenging with the addition of more bulls and cows moving at different speeds.
Encourage students to use repeated addition and skip counting when determining the number of cows. This helps students understand multiplication on a concrete level. For example, ask students:
- How many cows are in each row? How many rows are there? Can you multiply to get the answer?
- Can you add each row, one after the other (eg. 3+3=6, 6+3=9)?
- Can you use skip counting to count the cows (eg. 4,8,12)?
