About Mary Cassatt
Mary Cassatt (1844–1926) was an American-born Impressionist painter and printmaker who spent much of her life in France. A close friend of Edgar Degas, she exhibited alongside the French Impressionists and brought their modern ideas back to American audiences. Cassatt’s art focused on the lives of women and the bond between mothers and children, rendered with color, sensitivity, and strength.
