Nine Men’s Morris
Nine Men’s Morris is a centuries-old strategy game where two players place and move pieces to form lines of three, called mills. Each time you make a mill, you remove one of your opponent’s pieces. Win by reducing your opponent to two pieces or by leaving them with no legal moves.
How to Play
- Phase 1 – Placement: Players take turns placing their nine pieces on empty points on the board.
- Make a mill: Form a straight line of three of your pieces to remove one opponent piece (typically not from an existing mill unless no other pieces are available).
- Phase 2 – Movement: After all pieces are placed, take turns sliding one piece to an adjacent connected point.
- Keep building mills: Create mills during movement to remove more opponent pieces.
- Endgame: The first player to reduce the opponent to two pieces, or to block all their moves, wins.
