Rev your engines! It’s time to race. Which car will win? Watch the race to find out.
To play, click start. Then, watch the race and cheer on your favorite color. When the first car arrives at the finish line, everyone freezes. Then, put the cars in order from first to fifth. Line them up from top to bottom by dragging each one to their spot. Once you’ve correctly ordered the cars, you’re the winner! Play again if you’d like.
This fun game helps teach young students about ordinal numbers. Plus, students learn important concepts such as first, last, and all the places in between. Here are a few ways to extend the learning with this online math game:
- Ask students to play the game and afterward, have them draw the cars in order and write 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. below each one.
- After playing the game as a small group, have students act out the race, each playing one of the cars. To pick who plays which card, students can pick a color from a bucket prepared with the five colors that represent the cars. Students can use post-its to label themselves with ordinal numbers.
