Weighted Probability Spinner with Data Table

Give students a clear, visual way to explore probability with this interactive weighted spinner and frequency table. Students drag colored circles onto the large spinner to build their own custom “chance experiment.” Each dropped color adds to that color’s section of the spinner, changing the size of the wedges and creating a true weighted spinner.

When students tap the spinner, the arrow spins and lands on one of the colored sections. The tool automatically records each spin in the table on the right, showing how many times the spinner has landed on Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple. The “Last spin” label at the top updates after every trial, helping students connect the visual outcome on the spinner to the numbers in the table.

A Reset button clears the spinner, table, and last result so students can start a fresh investigation. A Random button quickly generates a new set of weighted wedges, perfect for fast demonstrations or comparing different spinner setups.

This digital manipulative is ideal for:

  • Modeling simple and weighted probability
  • Comparing experimental results to the underlying spinner design
  • Discussing fairness vs. bias in games of chance
  • Collecting data and reading simple frequency tables

Use it whole-class on an interactive whiteboard, in small groups, or as an independent center. It’s a flexible tool for grades 3–8 that makes abstract probability ideas more concrete, visual, and engaging.
